This is a further update on my earlier reviews, the mileage is now up to 130K, the engine and transmission are fine - zero oil consumption still. The interior continues to look good, although to be fair it rarely carries passengers. The exterior is generally very good, the metallic lacquer coat on the front bumper has chipped and started to peel in a few places. The only rust problem is on both rear wheel arches where the paint has started to bubble - this is a common fault on Premacy's - I have seen exactly the same bubbling on Premacy's for sale on Ebay.
I experienced some very unusual tyre wear on the rear wheels and what I thought was wheel bearing noise (a rumbling droning) , the Mazda dealer could not find anything wrong. One of the Tyre chains did identify the problem - worn rear shock absorbers. Replacing these and the suspension and the anti-roll bar drops links (which had siezed) has stopped the noise and fixed the problem of the tyre wear. Sadly I had to replace two Goodyear tyres that had 5mm of tread left 75% of the tyre but the tread blocks on on one edge had worn unevenly in a saw tooth pattern.
At the 120K service the front discs were replaced and a new set of pads, 120K miles from the discs and 60K miles from each set of front pads is not too bad. The rear pads were also replaced - these were the originals so can't realy grumble.
Feul consumption still around the 50mpg depending on speed.
The only thing I can really find to complain about is replacing the bulbs in the front headlamps. If I'd stuck with the original bulbs I'd probably still be using them today so its my own fault. I replaced the original bulbs with Phillips higher power bulbs -which were good - much brighter - however they didn't last as long so have had to be replaced, and actually fitting new bulbs is a real pain its very diffcult to get the bulbs in and out. If you need to actually change the light unit then the bumper has to come off!
So all in all still going strong, after 130K in 7 years (I bought it in may 2004 with 4K miles), there is no point in changing this vehicle until something major goes wrong.
The rusting rear wheel arches is the reason for 4 peaches rather than 5 - as many Premacy's are affected in exactly the same way its clearly a fault in the manufacturing process, the fact that no where else on the vehicle is there even a sign of rust just emphasies this as a manufacturing fault.
