Bought it in September - 6 months old from main dealer. Looked hard at Golf and a Pug 405 before deciding on the Focus. TDCis were as rare as hens teeth then but dealer got one in a couple of weeks CD and Aircon are included on LX spec and Ive put over 14K miles on it in 6 months Most of the time I am on A Roads and it is an excellent tool to drive. Diesel engine is superb with great mini "overboost" facility if you need to get past something. Cruises at motorway speeds without a problem I also drove 1.8 petrol Focus at Christmas and found it "gutless" after the diesel (I reckon though I have just got used to the "any rev" torque in the TDCi). Used to have a MK3 Escort and swore never to buy a Ford again after it failed to start whenever a rain cloud was within 50 miles of it but Ford have really got their act together on this one (Single shot) CD stereo is excellent; mpg great and seats are comfortable. Cant understand why you would need the Ghia over the LX as electric back windows, anti-lock brakes and a bit of fake wood seem the only extras. Only two small things stop the five peach rating. Firstly you will find water in the passenger footwell if the dealer changes the pollen filter under the windscreen and doesnt re-seal it properly. Specifically ask that they pay attention to this during every service as there seems to be a lot of evidence of it happening (the garage receptionist had the world weary "not another one" look when I brought mine in) Secondly, mine is in peppercorn red (or something) and I think it looks a lot nicer in silver or dark blue. However if this is all I have to complain about, then it has to be a hearty recommend!
