Ive owned this car for 6 months now, and have had no problems with it at all. The build quality of all the important bits seems good, the cabin quality is probably a notch below German...but the car sells at £2000 less than a Golf First things first...this is a diesel, my first diesel, and that wasnt exactly on my shopping list. Also, this is the TDi, not the new TDCI, and the reviews on this engine, though good for economy and reliability, advise that this aint a sports car The dealer conned me into test driving one though, (dont ask) and I gave it a good test, and, though not amazed at the speed, was impressed by smoothness at high speeds, cornering (the Zetec suspension is quite a bit tighter than the others!) and acceleration at speed Lets not beat around the bush-this car, with this engine it does very well in the "which is the best car for pulling a caravan" websites, maybe not the best endorsement for us caravan haters, but that accolade does mean that it pulls off from 60-70 on the motorway, in 5th gear, like its boots on fire So to sum up Good points---Great handling, as good as my lovely (if very breakable) old 306 was Tough design-incredibly rigid body, great turning!! Good engine at revs-smooth on motorway-45 mph in town traffic, 65 on motorway Bad points----Boring? Caravan owners like it Tough suspension can hurt your bum! |
