Received delivery of my new Type R on March 27th 2004, 3 weeks earlier than expected, only problem was that the leather interior had not arrived. Decided to cancel the leather, even though I had already paid in full - wasnt a problem - Honda gave me a cheque for ?£1400 when I collected the car, they even made and sorted out my personal number plates for me at no extra cost The Car - The Beast - The Type R - What can I say about this amazing car - Well over the next 4 days I managed to run the engine in by clocking over 700 miles. Now my baby was ready to be opened up a little - The acceleration at revs below 5900rpm is really pokey, but when you hit 5900rpm the engine changes personality and thinks its a jet fighter From 5900rpm to 7900rpm the g-force sits you back in the bucket seats and you feel your hands begin to clench the steering wheel twice as hard as before. Ill admit that the power of this machine is quite scary at first, but when you start to throw it around a few corners and roundabouts you realise what a great racing chassis this car has and it gives you the confidence - it absolutely sticks like glue I used to have a 306 XSI 2.0 and thought certain corners could not be taken any faster - I was wrong - the Type R seems to defy the laws of physics in the way it handles Anyway, as you can see I am really pleased with my purchase - Im so glad I didnt spend shed loads of money on a Golf R32 or a Focus RS. I did my research on all three cars and overall the Type R came top every time If I were to make any negative comments on this car - I would say that the petrol tank is too small. Im getting around 200 miles from a tank of petrol (?£35), and also the lubricants need to be checked virtually every time you fill up. So far I have clocked 2,500 miles and I have had to top up the coolant/antifreeze twice and the oil once, so not too bad One last thing - the Honda dealership have been great. They have called me a couple of times to see how I am getting on - they have sent me over ?£300 in vouchers for various things and the one time I did take my car in to them for a slight knocking on the steering rack - they had the car in for just 1 day and managed to correct the fault by modifying the suspension.
