My Punto sporting 1.2 2001 is about 3 years old now it is in its last week of warranty! I got the usual small faults, which many have got, juddering wiper blades, electrical faults etc My airbag light came on and I took it to the dealer they did a diagnostics and supposedly fixed the problem, I thought yeah great the airbag light is off its sorted. They charged me ?£30 for the diagnostics and they told me that they only charged me for 30mins work instead of an hour, but if I remember when I booked the car in they said they charge ?£30 an hour so 30mins work should of been ?£15 - strange. Anyway I let that go but the airbag light is back on a few days later and I am arranging to get it looked at again Also every so often out of the corner of my eye when driving I can see the power steering dash light come on for a split second so there must be a fault there will be getting that looked at also. Also when the dipped lights are on, when using the large main beam the dipped lights go off I also get almost permanent vibration off the steering wheel. Also took the car to another garage as I was getting major grinding from the brakes so had new pads, discs, shoes, fitted, still had same problem. Took it to Fiat again and they did a diagnostic said there is no problem with brakes. Took it to 5 garages and in there opinions I have a faulty ABS pump which is also causing the brakes to be unbalanced by about 55 percent so basically passenger side front brake not working half as much as the other. Also it was suggested that I might have a faulty wheel sensor At this point no warning lights had appeared in the dash to say there is a fault with ABS, but I was convinced it was when driving it. Now a week before the warranty is up the ABS light comes up on the dash but strange thing is when the ABS light is on the brakes "seem" to work ok but when it is off I get major grinding and unbalanced braking, its a major problem as the first MOT is due end of this month and the brakes in this state will not pass and fiat say there is no problem with it, and Ive been told a number of things that could be causing the problem Has anyone else experienced major ABS problems? Ill be taking the car back to fiat again to try and sort it Fiat dealers and their customer service is very very poor so when they said to me that my problems are not covered under warranty I called their head office and gave them a right mouth full and then they reeled off a list of things that are covered in the last years warranty and surprise, surprise, all of my faults could be fixed under warranty so watch out as dealers will try to get out of warranty where at all possible My family and me have had 6 fiat cars from the same dealer over time and had problems with all; you would think they would sort out my problems ASAP, no such luck Will never be buying a fiat again quality is poor. |
