These cars had a good reputation once, which is why we bought one. Big mistake! Never did track down the source of water leaks onto the rear seats, or the reason for the rear suspension clonk, despite repeated visits to local dealer Even simple stuff like changing the oil was a pain. Getting the filler cap off took the strength of a Titan, and filling could only be done at a dribble to avoid overflows Then the engine went bang at 65,000 miles, big hole in one piston. There followed a nightmare trying to find parts. Can you believe that there were only three (unmatched) Punto pistons in the whole country? And several other parts ordered for the rebuild-changed identity on their way here. So another week waiting for the next truckload from Italy Then, six months later, the engine mounting bolts sheared and the engine actually dropped out. It seems they are one-use items and should be replaced. But the factory hadnt told anybody On top of that it wasnt even any good to drive, and the dealer/spares support was so bad that I actually wound up banging my head on the parts counter in frustration Relief was great when a new mug was found to own it. A Honda now sits on the drive. |
