Weve had our Zafira ("Clifford" - the big red car) for about 2 months and put on about 3k miles in that time with no real problems It was 2nd hand, a private sale at about 15 months old, and so far seems a very good buy, but Im very glad I found this site - its prompted me to put a padlock on the spare wheel carrier! (Theres a handy bracket where the drop down rope fits - though someone will be along to tell me that this is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard in a minute, I suspect) A couple of serious niggles: a) Spare parts are very expensive compared with our previous Cavalier Mk 3, foglight for £160? The rear bumper is £400 (and not built in sections, when it could so easily have been so)? Typical of all manufacturers, but its no wonder our insurance premiums are so high when a simple rear end bump costs upwards of £500 to fit b) The other niggle is that the windscreen glass is flawed. It has two, slight but clear ripples running across, one of which being right in my wifes line of vision. The Vauxhall dealer who did the first service in Southwest Essex pointed out that despite the extended warranty, "the glass is only covered for 12 months" I havent checked with Vauxhall if they were telling porkies, but they suggested a windscreen replacement under the insurance - but though it only costs £50 excess, well pick up the tab at the other end with (again) raised premiums The 1800s suspension seems a little excitable around town, bouncing about on Londons potholes and speed bumps, but it is an excellent long journey car - comfortable and relatively quiet at speed, with a good turn of speed to around 80 mph, when it quickly runs out of puff. (But at least this will help us keep our licenses) The drivers seat (not the Recaro style ones) is a little small for an 18 stone lard-bum like me, and though not uncomfortable, I preferred the ones in the Cavalier As is pointed out elsewhere, the moving seat fittings are a little fragile, and care has to be taken moving them around, but this is well-compensated by the basically excellent design We can go from a car full of kids to moving our daughter to and from Uni in about 5 minutes, and without having to find somewhere to store the seats, Galaxy / Sharon owners take note But I think what I like most about the Zafira is that it feels like a big car on the inside, but is in reality not much bigger than the Astra estate on which its based So far, a qualified peach (Plug - this web site noted on the excellent CIX web conferencing - see www.cix.co.uk)
