My Zafira, well, I bought the car just over a year ago with 32K on the clock. It is an automatic & lovely drive. It is very practical, quite efficient on the school run and quick enough. After about 6months it became apparent that restarting the car within 10 minutes of stopping was almost impossible as it just wouldnt idle. If the car was got going and you actually drove for 10 meters or so, all would be ok. If the car were left for about an hour, there would be no staring problem. Why? As so many others have reported it would also cut out at roundabouts/junctions etc, this seems to be after sharp deceleration from load (for example crawling up an incline and releasing the throttle) or if the throttle was - jabbed. The switching off of the Aircon at idle would also cause it to stall. I previously experienced the engine-warning lamp coming on a couple of times and so off to Vauxhall I went. When the dealer plugged in his thing it came up with a - lambda sensor fault. This was at the time also alleged to possibly affect the bad restarting. I changed the sensor (?£135.00) which made an initial difference for about a week then back to the same problem, but at least the management light hasnt come on again since. So as for the restarting problem, is there a definitive answer and if so how much does it cost? |
