Bought from Network Q in May 2003. Managed to get a full service and cambelt change included with purchase price. Some niggles noticed in first week of ownership, were corrected by dealer: radio/cassette not working, air-con not working, tracking out, squeaky wiper blade, interior trim damage. Wa Surprised that air-con not picked up by Network Q 114 point check. Managed to get air-con fixed after three trips back to dealer All OK for eight months until March 2004. Noticed engine surging/missing while keeping a steady speed or decelerating, also revs dropping to 500rpm or stalling when pulling up at junctions, traffic lights or roundabouts. Engine management light not coming on, therefore no fault code recorded Took car into dealers for full 40,000 service and mentioned the problem. Also, got rear screen (some rear heated window elements not working) and leaking tailgate struts changed under warranty. When car was collected told that ECU had been re-programmed to rectify engine problem Took car back in two weeks later for surging/stalling problem. Found some info on Internet about this problem that seemed to point to a faulty throttle housing. Apparently this is a common problem on Zafiras. Dealer changed throttle housing, but dont know whether it was changed because Vauxhall know its a common problem, dealer diagnosed it or because we told them it was a common problem. Anyway, didnt solve it. But did come away with a lumpier tickover Took car back to dealers a week later, this time my wife was not amused. The dealer diagnosed and changed the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve. Seems OK so far (two days) but have now applied for the Network Q extended warranty just before the 12 months that came with the car runs out Either the throttle housing or the EGR valve would be about the price of 12 months Network Q cover. |
