Purchased the car from Q-Network dealer when it had 7400 miles (very low for a three-year-old) and FSH. Main concerns were depreciation and running costs, so decided to go for a used 1.6 lit base model Extremely pleased with the car in general. There are irritations nevertheless At 12,500 miles the (already sticky at purchase) ignition switch key stopped working completely leaving the family (including 6 week old baby) stranded whilst on holidays in Germany at over 38 degrees in the shade! Fortunately, an Opel dealer was nearby and he put a new key barrel in and shaped it to accept the existing keys This saved on the overall cost of having to replace the keys. Cost - £130.00, four days without a car, crying baby, two irritated children, exhausted wife trying to keep everyone calm, numerous phone calls to the UK to retrieve security details of the car With only 7400 miles on the clock, I accepted the sticky key to be no more than an inherent design feature/fault and never expected it to fail completely. But there you go The fuel gauge stays slightly above the "1/1" (FULL) mark for around 80 miles after filling up before it begins its descent. This gives a false conception of the exact amount of fuel you have. Has this been noticed by anyone Twice I was caught out by the car not starting when parked on an incline with over an indicated ¼ of a tank (just before parking). The car refuses to start and no/low fuel alarm comes on I had to put in about 5 more litres of petrol before it would start. If parked on an incline (with front and/or near side of the vehicle at a higher elevation) I have to make sure I have at least an indicated ½ a tank of fuel in the tank (or a 5 litre can of petrol handy). Is this something anyone has experienced The wipers are not switched over to match the RH drive UK models. The left blade follows the right leaving an arc of water in the driver’s view. This is okay for left-hand drive models. Attention to detail is lacking here, Vauxhall The radio is good but some basic knowledge of German language would be beneficial to understand what the buttons mean. The cassette player does not auto reverse, which is quite backward for a modern design The oil consumption seems to be normal; about 2 litres so far for the 5,5k miles I have done I would welcome any comments on above points. |
