We bought our 1.8 Auto Zafira at 35K on the clock in August 03. From about 39K a number of problems have arisen Immediately after 40K dealer service, we have been continually experiencing lack of acceleration. (Nothing like this happened before dealer service). The car will not accelerate when cold or when left for a period of time until a certain distance is covered or perhaps the engine begins to warm up O2 (lambda) sensor has been replaced but to no avail (£200 thank you). Its currently at dealers getting O2 sensor No. 2 fitted. If that fails to stop it, they say a new ECU is needed Also the engine management light has been coming on and staying on when de-accelerating sharply with the car almost stalling (needle at 500RPM then rises to 750rpm). Vehicle also stalls for no real reason when in traffic. Also stalls when I switch A/C off when idling. I have heard a lot about the Air Mass Sensor. Could this be a problem area although dealer has not mentioned this in Tech II test results I really like the car a lot but I must get the above sorted out as it can be quite dangerous. Otherwise the car seems to runs really well when warmed up Any help or pointers would be very gratefully received.
