I bought this car in August 01 from an independent 2nd hand car dealer I was initially impressed but soon began got irritated by a catalogue of problems. I got Vauxhall to conduct a major service in 2002 prior to travelling on holiday and to fix the heater control illumination (a problem I have had in 2 Cavaliers previously), the wing mirror motor, brake pads and discs and to check the air conditioning as it appeared not to be working I also asked them to check the radio which seemed only to receive a local signal and frequently turns itself off While on holiday, the electric engine fan failed to cut in to cool the engine resulting in an emergency pit stop at a Vauxhall dealer in the West Country who discovered a micro chip module was to blame While they had the bumper off, they discovered that the air conditioning condenser had a hole in it, so leaking all of the coolant gas that my local dealer had previously refilled after checking the system during the service Now the alternator has packed up (which disables the power steering by the way) and Vauxhall want over £250 to supply and fit Ive tried to remove the alternator myself but there is not enough room to the side of the unit to remove the bottom fixing bolt to remove it! (Makes me wonder how it got there in the first place) Also Vauxhall tell me it could be one of 3 different types and they won’t know which until they take out the old one Im getting very disillusioned and would like to hear from others with similar problems. |
