The worst, the very worst car I have ever owned and the very worst customer service I have ever experienced. I would give this car at least a dozen lemons! DO NOT BUY A FIAT if you wish to retain your sanity.
A very shortened version of the faults.....
1. Repeated oil leaks from the cam cover gasket (main dealer unable to sort out before we sold the car.
2. Repeated juddering of the wipers (a grease problem....!) Again, not totally solved before we sold the car
3. Warped front brake discs. Changed at 12000 miles
4. Petrol filler neck split - within one month of having the car
5. Dreadfully noisy fuel pump - changed at 10000 miles (Sorry Sir but we cant hear anything.......) When the pump was changed, the main dealer monkey didnt fit the rubber air tight seal and the car filled with very strong petrol fumes. My wife has very little sense of smell and our daughter was in the car with her. What if she had lit a cigarette?........ or been overcome by the fumes?....
(Sorry about that Sir.......must have missed it....)
6. Gearbox oil leak within one month
7. When main beam turned on, dipped beam went out leaving two points of light a long way down the road. (We know about this fault Sir, but we dont know what to do about it.....)
Fiat UK stated (and I quote from the Customer Services manager of Fiat UK during 2002) We are unable to help you. The contract of sale is with the dealer not with us I wish I was allowed to print her name!
We lost thousands of pounds on this car and I have a very very bitter taste in my mouth. I took the car back to the main dealer so many times that I lost count. The main dealer (PLEASE let me print their name...) had our money and didnt give a damn and/or were so incompetent that they couldnt sort the problems out.
Buy another?.....What do you think? Id rather shuffle along on my backside |
