I have experienced most of the faults already highlighted. However, there now appears to be a problem developing in early models with regard to the check strap on the rear doors. I was alerted by a colleague and fellow Zafira owner to look for cracking around the bolts that fix the check strap to the door. Like his I discovered the door structure is cracking which will eventually lead to the check strap detaching from the door. My colleague was pointed in the direction of a local body shop by his Vauxhall dealer and has had strengthening plates welded in place at ?£150 per side. Apparently the body shop has repaired many Zafiras with the same problem. When I approached my local dealer they stated that there is no recognised repair scheme and the problem could only be resolved by fitting new doors at an all up cost of some ?£600 per side. Of course Vauxhall head office dont perceive the problem to be a poor design and will not offer any assistance. Before formally writing to Vauxhall I am trying to determine how widespread the problem is so would be interested in hearing from other owners. |
