Whilst still under warranty the aircon packed up requiring two visits to the dealer due to having to order a part.
Then the vehicle broke down, diagnosed as an ERVS(?) valve on the fuel system, replaced by dealer, only for it to break down again a week later, this time a new turbo was fitted, with the dealer clocking up 82 miles on my tank of diesel. "We had to thoroughly test it" they claim. Yeah, right!
Under the Honda warranty a breakdown involves AA recovery to a Honda dealer, and provision of a rental car for 3 days. Honda were unable to look at my car until after that, they did not then have a courtesy car available, and refused to pay for an extension to the rental, saying that they did not have to provide a car. As a car is essential to my job (emergency call-outs for the NHS) I had no option but to pay for this myself, ?‚?£120, although this was refunded after complaining to Hondas head office.
Intermittant faults remaining are a stuttering engine, a metallic crunching sound from the clutch pedal, and the car re-locking after unlocking with the remote, Honda say they cannot find any problem-convenient, as the warranty is about to expire.
So...not exactly the legendary reliability or customer service which Honda proclaim. Had it have been, I could have overlooked the fact that inside and out the car looks about as exciting as a bread van with a performance to match, acceleration has more flat spots than a Spice Girls album, the brakes are like a lorry load of sponges, reverse gear would be easier to engage on a chieftain tank, light and wiper controls are obscured by the steering wheel................................ |
